Promoting Anti Corruption Bill

Status: Ongoing, volunteers needed
Summary: People for Lok Satta launches campaign to garner support for an amendment to the Prevention of Corruption Act drafted by Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, President of the Lok Satta Party. People For Loksatta urges its volunteers to spread the message and create awareness about the bill.

The new bill promises the following

  • Facilitate seizure and forfeiture of property of corrupt public servants
  • Inclusion of MLA’s, MP’s and Ministers under the bill (They are exempt in the existing Anticorruption Bill.)
  • Establish special anti-corruption courts in each district
  • Appoint independent prosecutors drawn from judiciary
  • Establish an independent anti-corruption agency functioning under the overall supervision of Lokayukta
  • Presumption of guilt on public servants in case of disproportionate assets and those who are caught red-handed while accepting bribe.

Since there is rampant political corruption in India, the bill might encounter strong opposition from other MLA’s. Only public awareness can facilitate passing the bill with majority support.

We all love our Motherland and want a non corrupt India. Corruption is anti-economic development, anti-poor and anti-national .Corruption will not vanish if we sit and complain. Let us all Indians stand up against corruption and support the Anti corruption bill. It is now or never.
